ATL helps inspire an African touch
Juliet brings a touch of African nostalgia to Bradford

Throughout Juliet Eze’s time in the UK she always struggled to find good quality home foods from her native Nigeria. Having spent the past 15 years away from Africa where she graduated in IT Management and undertaken a few jobs, Juliet finally decided to set up ‘Jolly Foods’ a specialist store retailing African foods.
Having struggled to find suitable employment after graduating Juliet ended up working various jobs but became increasingly frustrated with the lack of decent job opportunities available. However, after discussing the idea with her husband they identified a gap in the food market after they always found it difficult to buy specialist African foods and subsequently set up their new business.
Identifying business support services through Bradford kickstart at ATL, the couple worked with Business Counsellor Shamsul Arafen in setting up the business including regular action planned meetings and network/contact development. Juliet commented “Having Kickstart to turn to has made a really good difference especially as I’ve had crucial help at hand assisting me through a nervy time”.
Juliet has been working hard in developing her business and is working closely with Kickstart in developing her marketing with the aim of increasing exposure of her business further along with taking advantage of the continued support available.
Situated in a busy area in Great Horton, Jolly Foods specialises in traditional African foods and has a good stock of a vast range of products including oils, flours, spices, and meats. “The idea is to try and accommodate for a variety of customers who all have differing tastes, food customs and cultures, this is why I have brought many different foods from different parts of Africa to my shop” stated Juliet. True to her words, as you step foot into the shop you are greeted with a beautiful aura of fascinating smells and vibrant colours along with a real sense of nostalgia with products traditional to the very essence of Africa.
Jolly Foods is open 7 days a week and can be found just before the Cross Lane traffic lights on Great Horton Road with good parking or if you prefer a reliable delivery service on specific orders. Jolly Foods plans to consolidate a good position in the market and will be continuing to work with ATL and Kickstart in developing the business further. You can contact Juliet on 01274 578942.
